This catalogue was produced to accompany an exhibition The French Connection, curated by David Britton at The Ava Gallery, Clandeboye, Co. Down in August 2010 before travelling to The Hunt Museum in Limerick.

 

Size 225 X 245 mm. 48 pages illustrated in colour. First edition.

 

The exhibition contained the works of 25 Irish artists who travelled to study and paint in France. It rediscovered the work of forgotten Irish artist Thomas Hovenden and the catalogue contains short biographies on each of the artists who include Stanhope Forbes, May Guinness, Nathaniel Hill, Nathaniel Hone, Charles Lamb, Sir John Lavery, William John Leech, Roderic O’Conor, Walter Osborne, William Scott and Sarah Purser to mention just a few.

As the paintings were all rom private collections many were illustrated for the first time.
